Munster Championships

After competiting in the selection trials, finishing 17 races Ross Vaughan has qualified to represent Ireland at the Optimist World Championships in Uruguay.  Ross will travel with the team just before Christmas, the event commences 29th December and finishes 9th January 2007.

At the Munster Championships held at Royal Cork Yacht Club Crosshaven over the weekend 20th and 21st May four of our cadet members took part in the event.

Holly and Craig Campbell in their first event competed in the Regatta fleet. There were 27 entries, Holly won the event, and Craig came 9th, this was a terrific achievement considering it was their first event. Well done the Campbell’s!

Ross Vaughan and Jess Brien competed in the main fleet of 75 entries.  Jess was placed 17th overall and 5th in the Silver fleet.

Ross won the event and is now the current Munster Champion.   

Ross and Jess will be competing again on the 3rd and 4th June in Dun Laoghaire for the Leinster Championship.
