The RS Elites are the fastest growing Keelboat in Belfast Lough and here at RNIYC the fleet has grown to 13 in a relatively short time, with 20 on the Lough in general (three in Bangor, two in Carrickfergus and two in Belfast). We now have sister fleets in Strangford Lough and Lough Neagh.

The Elite is a 24ft racing yacht, that is usually crewed with three up however can be sailed short handed with two. The boat can also be comfortably sailed with four up however in reality the fourth would have little to do. Those people currently in the class vary in age groups from the young teenager right through to retired folk.

We race regularly on Tuesday and Thursday nights during the summer season and most Saturday afternoons. The fleet also attend events and regattas throughout the UK and Ireland, including the Bailey Bowl in Dublin, the Brewin Dolphin Scottish Series Tarbert and the UK Nationals as well as the Irish Nationals held this year in Strangford Lough.

Last year, Royal North was proud to host for the second time the Brewin Dolphin UK Nationals. This year, Ten Elites have committed to travel to the UK Nationals at the Royal Burnham Yacht Club and the Southerns in Cowes in July.
