At a gathering of gentlemen in the Club House of the North of Ireland Yacht Club at Cultra on 13th August 1901 it was resolved, ‘to get up a new class’. A designer was appointed, and the design selected became ‘The Fairy Class’

Now, some 118 years later, the Fairy class is still in rude health, 11 boats in great condition out competing at Royal north of Ireland Yacht Club and in the regattas around Belfast Lough.
