The SB20 is now an Internationally sailed event boat with fleets around the world from the UK to Portugal, Italy, Germany, France, Belgium, Ireland, Hong Kong, USA and Australia.
The boat travels easily and lends itself to speedy rigging and de-rigging which is a benefit when travelling to and from events.
We have held our worlds in various locations around the world including Lake Garda and in 2012 the class heads down under to Hamilton Island on the Great Barrier Reef.
Only a number of years ago the SB20 was the fastest growing fleet in Ireland. In one year alone more than 50 of these dynamic and exciting sailing sports boats had been ordered and the class attracted the best of sailing talent on the Island.
Today we have approximately a dozen or so sailing out of Belfast Lough with the bulk of these from the Royal North of Ireland Yacht Club.
The SB20 fleet is arguably one of the most competitive fleets sailing in Irish waters with many National and Olympic sailors competing on the Irish circuit.
The circuit consists of the main locations around the country and as such we hold annual events in Dun Laoghaire, Howth, Midwest, North and South.
The SB20 is a three or 4 person sports boat with an all up weight allowance of 270kg. The boat is exciting to handle particularly in breeze and can attain speeds in excess of 20 knots, handled correctly.
