RYA Day Skipper Theory Course Content 

A comprehensive introduction to navigation and safety, this course equips you with enough knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day.  A basic knowledge of lights is also included to introduce you to night cruising.

Subjects include

  • Charts and publications
  • Tides and how to use them
  • Weather forecasting
  • Position fixing
  • Use of electronic navigation
  • Emergency and safety procedures including distress calls, use of flares, safety harnesses, lifejackets and liferafts

Previous experience required None
Duration 40 hours plus assessments and homework
Max instructor ratio 12:1
Cost £300

All training materials, RYA almanac and exams are included.
You will need to bring a pen, 2B pencil, eraser, paper and a Portland plotter and dividers.
