Sunday 6th May sees the annual RNIYC “Come and Try It Day” in association with the RYA Push the Boat Out initiative.

What time is it running from?
The day starts at 10.00 am and runs until 4.30 pm.

Who can take part?
The event is open to the public – all are welcome!

Are there any age restrictions?
There are no age restrictions as such, although we would ask that children under eight are accompanied by parents.

Do I have to be fit?
Given the physical nature of the sport, we would ask that you be realistic about what you wish to try, but no special level of fitness is required.

Do I need to bring special equipment or clothing?
If you wish to sail in a dinghy, you will almost certainly get wet, so be prepared with warm gear and a spare change of clothes for afterwards. Footwear will get wet – trainers will suffice. The larger the boat, the drier you are likely to remain, so perhaps a large yacht is for you?

We will provide life jackets or buoyancy aids.

Do I need to book in advance?
No. It would be great if you could let us know you are planning to attend, but there is no requirement to book in advance. Please bear in mind, if it gets busy, you may have to wait your turn!

How much will this cost?
Nothing. Seriously! Just turn up and enjoy the day. Food and drinks will be available for purchase from the clubhouse and we hope you will take the time to sample what we can offer.

I really enjoyed the day! What do I do if I want to continue sailing?
Come and talk to us. We will take you through the various options available to you.
